      PART OF FRENCH EXCELLENCE

ARCHITECTURE is part of French Excellence, a program created by Alliance Française de Singapour to share the best of French culture with the local community. Through a large array of exhibitions, workshops, talks, screenings, and more, we hope to create a dialogue between cultures and strengthen the ties between people.

Since the program's conception, we have completed programs highlighting French gastronomy and cuisine (A TABLE), modern painters (INFLUENCERS), and the art of ballet (DANCE).

      EXHIBITION:
LE CORBUSIER: A DAY IN A LIFE

Le Corbusier is a French-Swiss architect, designer, painter, urban planner, writer, and one of the pioneers of modern architecture. The name, Le Corbusier, is a different version of his maternal grandfather's surname, Lecorbésier. The name translates into English as "the crow-like one", a name he chose in 1920, an act that creates a self. Le Corbusier was born Charles-Édouard Jeanneret in Switzerland and became a French citizen in 1930.
Le Corbusier is noted for inventing a new architectural language. This architecture gives way to light while modernizing architectural techniques and technology with an architecture that develops upwards towards meeting modern people's social and personal needs with functional spaces.

Alliance Française is proud to showcase private collections of architecture models, artworks, and writings of Le Corbusier.
